The Government has purchased a 13-hectare site on Karaka Road in Drury to support future health infrastructure, including the development of a major hospital for South Auckland's growing population.

Announced by Health Minister Simeon Brown, the $45.3 million site is located near to the future Ngākōroa railway station and close to State Highway 22, providing strong public transport and road connections.

Adjacent to Fisher & Paykel Healthcare's planned research and development precinct, the site is also well positioned to support both healthcare delivery and wider economic growth in the area.

The future hospital site complements the significant investment already planned or underway across Drury, including new homes, schools, transport infrastructure, parks, town centres and employment opportunities.  Together these investments are helping shape Drury into Auckland's newest city.

The location alongside the future Ngākōroa station also ensures a well-connected city, where residents can access key services through an integrated transport network. Co-locating healthcare infrastructure with good public transport links will support accessibility, reduce travel times and help create a more sustainable urban environment.
