As Drury and wider West Franklin continue to grow, Auckland Transport (AT) is introducing new public transport infrastructure to support current and future residents.
Construction is now underway on three new train stations, Paerātā, Ngākōroa and Drury, with openings planned from 2026.
These stations will connect to the Southern Line, and later the South City Line once the City Rail Link opens, creating more reliable access to jobs, education, and services throughout the region.
The investment in transport aligns with Auckland Council’s broader vision for Drury to become a well-connected, liveable, and successful urban centre in the south. Drury is one of the largest future urban areas under development in Auckland. It is expected to accommodate tens of thousands of new residents over the coming decades. Ensuring that growth is supported by early infrastructure — including public transport — is essential.
The Auckland Urban Development Office (AUDO) is actively involved in this transformation, working to coordinate planning, infrastructure delivery, and investment across agencies. The new public transport network reflects one part of a wider strategy to ensure that Drury develops in a way that supports people, place, and the environment over the long term.
That means aligning transport, housing, open space, and local services so that they support a high quality of life from the beginning.
This public transport rollout is one example of how long-term planning is being translated into delivery on the ground.
Alongside the new train stations, AT is proposing a new bus network for West Franklin — including parts of Drury and neighbouring communities that have never had regular public transport before.
To make sure the network meets local needs, AT is asking for feedback on:
-
Bus routes and destinations
-
Operating hours
-
Service frequency
-
Bus stop locations
Feedback is open until Sunday, 16 November. Have your say by following this link here.
