Northcote Town Centre is evolving. Originally built in the late 1950’s, it’s now due for some love, and we’re leading this important work.
Over the next decade, locals and visitors will see staged changes in Northcote's commercial and civic heart - as new shops, business premises, community facilities, homes and a larger supermarket are built.
Working with development partners, mana whenua, Kaipātiki Local Board, locals, and others, we’re building on Northcote’s unique character to create a more thriving heart for the community - a place where locals, culture and businesses can flourish.
In the future, we’ll want to remember what the town centre looked like in earlier years. So, we’ve collected snapshots to capture the essence and life of the town centre over the years.

In 2024, we started working with students at Northcote Intermediate to get their input on the proposed design of a new Northcote community hub and upgrade of Puāwai Cadness Reserve. Here’s how they were involved and their super ideas and feedback.
